Trader Joe’s is so awesome! I’ve discovered some great frozen meals recently, and they are so much more filling than the typical Weight Watcher frozen meals available in grocery stores. I ate Chicken Vindaloo (curry based) tonight for dinner and it was awesome. I mixed a serving of cooked spinach in with the meal and loved it. This meal gave me so much more for my points than other frozen meals I’ve bought in the past. Total points: 6!

I have discovered the most awesome thing! Edy’s fruit bars (no sugar added). I bought them at Aldi the other day and I love them! And, the best part about it…………0 points! I, honestly, didn’t think I was going to like them when I saw that they are sweetened with Splenda, but I can’t even tell. You should try them out!

The weekends have been a struggle for me lately. After counting my points all week, I try to relax on the weekends, but I think I end up relaxing too much. I have no doubt that I would be 10 lbs less than I am right now if I had not let myself go on the weekends. I’ve tried to make myself only have one day on the weekend that I don’t count points, but that one day quickly leads to the next and before I know it, I’ve splurged the entire weekend. So, now that I’ve thrown it all out there for all of you, maybe I’ll do better. I’ll let you know! I will say that I feel more comfortable with the rate that I’ve lost weight this time, because I feel like it is becoming more of a lifestyle for me than a race to lose the weight as quick as I can. I’ve been swimming at the YMCA and am loving it. I’ll post more about that later. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Struggles

Like many people, I never struggled with weight before I had my first child. I could eat whatever I wanted. However, all of that changed after the birth of my son (who is now 8). All of the sudden, my eating (which I thoroughly enjoy doing) affected the way I looked. In 2003, I decided to try weight watchers on my own without the meetings. My Mom was doing Weight Watchers and she shared her materials with me. I successfully lost weight, but as soon as I lost it I slowly began eating in the same patterns I had before the weight loss. So, understandably, the weight crept back on. In March of 2004, I decided to really join Weight Watchers, and I lost 30 lbs., maintained, and earned the achievement of Lifetime membership. Toward the end of that year, I found out I was pregnant with my second child, and was so thankful I had lost the weight prior to becoming pregnant. I gave birth to my second son, and within a few weeks, started back on Weight Watchers. I was able to lose the weight pretty quickly because I was also nursing, so I was proud of myself, when, after 9 months I had lost all but 7 or 8 pounds of the baby weight ( I had 50 to lose!). Then, we moved in May of 2006. Soon after, I stopped nursing, and the weight began to creep back up on me. Now, I don’t want to give you the impression that I consider myself to be obese. That is not the case. But, my weight fluctuates very easily and I gained 20 pounds in the span of a year. Because I am able to gain weight so quickly, I have realized that I have to live a lifestyle that will prevent this. So, in 2008, I decided to regain control of this area of my life. I went to Weight Watchers, after not weighing in for 5 months, and I found that I was 15 pounds over my goal weight. Since January, I have been slowly but surely losing the weight, and I am hoping to keep it off this time. Maybe this blog will hold me accountable! By the way, leave a comment if you’ve been reading! I’d love to know who is out there reading and following me in this journey! And, I’d love for you to join me in the journey and share your tips, as well!

I have never counted my activity points. Technically, I could eat 2 or 3 more points on the days that I exercise, but I’ve always figured it would help me out if I ignored that option. If I’m extremely hungry, I will allow myself the points, but I find that I rarely need them. So, go for it! See if it works for you!
